Ranveer Singh takes the helm as Don in the awaited movie sequel. Excel Entertainment’s announcement showcases a mysterious return with a new voice and direction, set to release in 2025.
A New Don
Ending weeks of anticipation, Ranveer Singh has been revealed as the lead actor in the upcoming film Don 3. He steps into the role previously portrayed by Shah Rukh Khan, who starred in two Don movies released in 2006 and 2011. The character of Don originated with Amitabh Bachchan in the 1978 hit film.
Excel Entertainment’s Announcement
Excel Entertainment, the film’s production company, shared a video online to announce Ranveer Singh’s casting. The video showcases a man seated in a room overlooking a vibrant, neon-lit city skyline. The character stands up, removes his hood, and lights a cigarette while delivering an ominous Hindi voiceover.
A Mysterious Return
The character questions, “When will the sleeping lion wake up?” and asserts, “Tell them, I am here.” He reveals his strength and courage, asserting, “I’m back to show you what I’m made of.” The dialogue ends with the iconic line, “Tum toh hai jaante jo mera naam hai. Main hoon Don.”
Change of Lead and Director
Originally planned with Shah Rukh Khan reprising the role, Don 3 saw changes in both the lead actor and director. Farhan Akhtar, who directed the previous Don films, will helm this one too. The movie is set for a 2025 release. It’s unclear whether this will affect the schedule of Jee Le Zaraa, featuring Alia Bhatt, Priyanka Chopra, and Katrina Kaif.
Ranveer’s New Ventures
Ranveer Singh’s announcement as Don follows his success in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani after a series of less successful films. He’s also rumored to be part of the upcoming Shaktimaan reboot.
