Delhi Chief Minister Takes Swift Action

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has taken immediate action in response to a disturbing case involving a senior official from the Women and Child Development department. The official is accused of repeatedly raping a minor girl, who is a friend’s daughter.

Probe and Detainment

Kejriwal has directed the suspension of the accused official, Premoday Khakha, and has requested a report from Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar. The accused and his wife are currently detained by Delhi Police.

DCW Chairperson Highlights Hospital Incident

Swati Maliwal, Chairperson of the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW), expressed her frustration at not being allowed to visit the minor victim in the hospital. She questioned the actions of both the police and the hospital administration in the case.

DCW’s Demands for Action

Maliwal demanded answers from Delhi Police and the government regarding the delay in the accused’s arrest. She stressed that a government officer occupying a high position in the Women and Child Development Department is accused of rape and urged for accountability and action.

FIR and Shocking Details Emerge

An FIR has been registered against the accused official under relevant sections of the IPC and the POCSO Act. Startling details of the case reveal that the minor victim had been living in the accused’s house, where she was subjected to sexual harassment, molestation, and repeated rape.

NCPCR Chief Addresses Lapses

Priyank Kanoongo, Chief of the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR), highlighted procedural lapses in the case. He questioned the absence of the victim’s details on the Baalswaraj Portal, which records orphans and children in need of guardianship.

Investigating All Angles

Kanoongo expressed concerns over the Child Welfare Committee’s involvement and the role of the Church in the matter. He emphasized that the case is being closely monitored, and necessary actions will be taken once all information is gathered. A team from NCPCR is being sent to the hospital where the girl is admitted.
